Description
The Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management offers students the opportunity to take a minor in Textile Technology. Undergraduate students enrolled in all programs at NC State University, except those in the Department of Textiles and Apparel, Technology and Management, are eligible to take this minor. The minor allows students to explore the principles of textile technology and design using fibrous media. Students also have the opportunity to use textile technology facilities and state-of-the-art computer aided design systems as part of the minor.
Requirements
Required Courses (9 credit hours)
TMS 211 Introduction to Fiber Science (3 cr)
TT 221 Yarn Production and Properties (2 cr)
TT 252 Formation and Structure of Textile Fabrics (4 cr)
Elective Courses (6 credit hours)
Elective courses should be selected from the following list after consultation with the minor advisor.
TT 305 Introduction to Nonwoven Products and Processes (3 cr)
TT 321 Yarn Production and Properties II (3 cr)
TT 341 Knitted Fabric Technology (3 cr)¹ or TT 372 Knitted Textile Design (3 cr)
TT 351 Woven Fabric Technology (3 cr)² or TT 371 Woven Textile Design (3 cr)
¹ ² Credit will not be given for both courses
Note: Students should be aware that some of these courses have prerequisites. Permission to waive prerequisites must be obtained from the course instructor after evaluation of student's academic background.
